About Ian Meyer Photography

Brooklyn, New York based but Iowa bred, Ian's interest in photography was born out of a fascination with the world and its mysterious workings, a fascination with human interaction and a desire to contribute something to a party (other than holding up the wall). He picked up a camera at age thirteen and hasn't put it down since (except for the ten years when he stopped because, as you likely know, film is costly for teenagers without jobs).

Ian's photography spans a variety of subjects from parties to cityscapes but always maintains a nuanced appreciation of the given moment. He is good friends with light and its multifaceted temperament. Often preferring observation to participation, Ian is always camera-on-shoulder, ready to snap something captivating. But don't ask him to take your picture.

Ian has shot for a variety of notable individuals including The Rub, Fool's Gold, Maggie Horn, Queen Majesty and Sammy Bananas and corporations from Scion, and Flavorpill to spirit manufacturer, Combier USA. His publishing credits include magazines such as New York (Magazine), URB, XLR8R, Billboard, Juice and Envy and Inked, a humorous look at the modern tattoo phenomenon (TeNeues, 2008).
